“ Decided to try this restaurant as we found a parking spot right in front even on a Sunday morning. Had Laksa Johor, Kacang Pool and a special menu of Ubi Rebus which came with 4 delicious condiments. Laksa Johor was amazing with big portions. Kacang Pool was normal. Definitely would recommend the Laksa Johor and Ubi Rebus. ”
“ Been here twice. I personally lovee the tauhu sumbat - it’s my fav dish so far. Other favs: The sup kambing - strong kambing taste just as we like it Not a fan of briyani but the Briyani Ayam was quite good. Lempeng kelapa - love the sambal tumis, we prefer the lempeng to be thinner Air Kathira - the bottled one is very pekat & sweet to me but makes perfect consistency for 2 glasses with ice. Roti Naik is so soft & fluffy too. Owner approached us & was very friendly. Only letdown was the mee siam berkuah which was way too salty. And I’m not sure if it should be that plain without any veggie / greens. And I think the ventilation & prayer area could be much improved, understand the limited space but if you’re going to have an open prayer area in the restaurant, might be best to keep the area tidy (when we came, I could see it was a bit of mess). Nevertheless will come again inshaAllah to repeat the tauhu & to try other dishes! ”
“ Simple decoration, but the foods were good. Went there around 8 pm, not so many people. So fast service. Mee bandung muar was a bit oily but tastes good. Laksa johor was good. My husband loves nasi ambeng. He said the kelapa parut was to his liking. Price - a bit pricey, but i guess it's because of the rent Got small space for those who want to pray The owner was friendly. Syed putra if I'm not mistaken ”
“ Breakfast @Wannah’s_TTDI This rather new Malay café restaurant ftom Tanjjng Puteri, Johor is where I have wanted to try, but during the fasting month, they did not open. So finally got a chance to taste their food. Ordered Soto ayam Johor bahru (15.00) and tahu sumbat )7.00), Milo C (3.50). Tahu sumbat or “stuffed tofu” is bean sprouts and sliced cucumbers are stuffed. The sauce is sweet but also with some tangy chill taste, which makes otherwise a plain dish more enjoyable. Soto ayam Johor Baharu (can I translate Johor Bahru style chicken soup?) is rather mild to me as I did not taste much spice/ herb in it. It is also with a few crunch’s of nasi impit to make it complete breakfast itself. Maybe I’d like to come back for Laksa Johor as it is hard to find in KL/Selangor area. ”
“ I went in with average expectation and left completely satisfied. Their laksa johor was really good, complete with all the 'sampah' (daun kesum, selasih, jeruk lobak etc). I would've loved my spaghetti to be slightly al dente but that's a minor gripe. But the star for me would definitely be the kuih Lopez. Seriously, as a true blue Johorean, this is kuih Lopez DONE RIGHT. From texture, color, taste, thick gula melaka and generous kelapa parut, it was just perfect - definitely top tier compared to most 'express' kuih Lopez out there. I would come again just for this to be honest. The staff (and owner? Mohd) were all friendly and courteous as well. Thank you! ”
“ Wannah's is 1 of those pleasant surprises in life. Our party of 3 pax ordered 2x Nasi Ambeng, 1x Ayam Goreng Sambal Menangis, Snow white mushroom fritters and Kueh Lopis for dessert. The killer dish is the Ayam Goreng Sambal Menangis that simply pops your eyes out as you take your first bite and go...mmmmm. It was THAT GOOD. The heat from the sambal kicks in later. Be warned that this is not for those with caucasian tongues. It gets really pedas. You gotta man up, grow hairs on your chest and enjoy this. The tasty sambal and marinated chicken makes it all worthwhile. Highly recommended. The Nasi Ambeng did not disappoint either. This comes with sambal too and all standard condiments. This is a safe dish for those with thin tongues and not pedas. Its a rice dish with tasty proteins - tempeh and soya chicken - that's a real square meal. The dessert - Kueh Lopis - a simple common dessert, was absolutely delicious. The pulut cake warm and soft, coated with freshly grated coconut and bathed in not-so-sweet palm sugar. I can eat this everyday. Definitely on my recommended list. The hosts - Tuan Syed Putra and Puan Sharifah were such gracious hosts and gave us such a warm welcome that it made our otherwise routine dinner a memorable experience. These are honest restaurateurs who take pride in the food they serve. Simple, unpretentious honest to goodness food. My thanks to them for sharing with others their delicious homestyle dishes at Wannah's. Give this place a go whenever you're at TTDI or simply wanting a slice of delicious Johore food fare.
